The apartment garage storage problem:
Property developers, builders, architects and facility managers are only too aware of the challenge of providing apartment residents with adequate storage facilities in high density apartment buildings. The easy, but unattractive, option is the chain wire mesh storage cage. Inexpensive, but not secure, not private and very quickly dirty and grimy. This has been a long-ignored sector of the construction industry, with relatively few product options and credible suppliers.
This was the problem faced by an Adelaide, S.A. based operator of aged care residences.
The Over Bonnet storage solution
The architects for this high-project in the Adelaide suburb of Fullarton engaged with Space Commander early in the planning phase to devise the right product solution for the project.
Space Commander was engaged to supply and install 45 of our Over Bonnet model SC2511 for an exciting new aged care and residential village in the Adelaide suburb of Fullarton.
The Space Commander range of garage storage solutions was selected for its quality, security, strength and our proven track record of reliability. The architects also considered storage cages, but opted for our fully enclosed steel storage cabinets as the preferred option in terms of visual appearance, security and protection for the contents. Early feedback from the residents is that they are very happy with the Space Commander Over Bonnet storage cabinets!
The installation phase
Delivered directly from our Sydney warehouse, Space Commander worked closely with the project management team to ensure our on-site role was timed perfectly with the project schedule. The inventory was shipped in component form and then assembled on site by our team of expert installers who travelled to Adelaide. They were very happy with the opportunity to get out and see more of the country, with a game of AFL at the Adelaide Oval a particular highlight!
The result
The 45 Over Bonnet storage cabinets were indeed a very welcome addition to the facilities at this major new residential development. In addition to creating a neat, consistent and tidy garage, incoming residents had the luxury of 3.2 cubic metres of supplementary storage space. Given that these residents were primarily downsizers from long held family homes, this extra space was highly valued for the sporting, hardware and tools, recreation and other household items that they just did not want to give up!
