There are 2 reasons:

Firstly, our storage units are much stronger, heavier, bulkier units than the cheap copies, and they require specialist installation skills. Accordingly, for safety, practicality and convenience we don’t offer a self-assembly option.

Secondly, because we include the delivery and installation in our pricing we need to take into account your location. We have standard pricing for the major cities, but this also differs across states due to freight, logistics and installation costs.

We make it simple. Because no 2 car spaces are the same, and everyone has different requirements, we offer a range of over 30 models and sizes. Not just 1 or 2 models like the cheap imitations.

We can also install our Over Bonnet storage units with perforated/ ventilated ceiling panels to allow water from fire sprinkler systems to enter the storage cabinet in the event of a fire incident.

No you don’t, but we can provide you with an Application Letter so that they are aware of what you are doing. Because they sit free standing in your car space, and the use and enjoyment of your lot cannot be unreasonably withheld, there is no reason why you cannot install a Space Commander.

We chose this colour because of its practicality and safety in terms of being visible, easy to keep clean and consistent with the colour schemes of a basement car park. A further benefit is that we can install our storage units in a building today that will look exactly the same as units we installed over 10 years or 15 years ago in the same location.

If you required a different colour for an Over Bonnet storage unit this can be arranged but is often considered not worth the extra cost by our customers.

Yes, we can adjust the height of the overall storage unit to provide greater bonnet clearance  for larger vehicles. This can be achieved via the adjustable feet under each leg, the addition of 4WD extensions or our extended height models.

If your car space has enough room for a car and a full length cabinet at the end (or on the side) you can create up to 5.6 cubic metres of very valuable storage.

Yes they can. Because there is no scope to get the bonnet of your car underneath the cabinet anyway, the only consideration is that both your 4WD or SUV and the Double Decker storage unit will both fit in your car space and not impact the traffic flow of other cars or pedestrians. We are always happy to come over and check your car space to help you arrive at the best model for your circumstances and budget.

Every Double Decker model has 2 separate, lockable storage cabinets. The individual size of the storage cabinets depends on the model installed.

Yes, it is very much designed and engineered for outdoor use. Both models feature a unique PVC coated galvanised steel for extra protection from the elements, and all the other components are made from either stainless steel or aluminium. Weatherproof strips around the door opening further protect the contents from any moisture or heavy rain and dust.

The BikeBox has been in existence for over 30 years, and was originally developed to provide secure weatherproof bike storage for the small but often rainy backyards of London’s terrace homes.

The BikeBox is manufactured by Trimetals Ltd. of Dorset, England at their Blandford Forum factory (south east of London). Trimetals is a proudly family run business with a long history of sheet metal craftsmanship and quality manufacturing. So much so that they have been awarded the Queens Award for Enterprise, International Trade, in 2016.

Both products utilise the same materials, engineering and construction. The only difference is the size:

• The Standard model will accommodate up to 3 bikes, and has a small front lower panel for structural support.
• The Slimline model has a reduced depth (760mm) and will accommodate 2 bikes. By virtue of not having the lower front panel they are perfect for storing heavier e-bikes without the need for being lifted.

Very simply because it is manufactured in the UK. And is then shipped half way around to world to our warehouse in Sydney. So the combined effect of a high cost (but quality oriented) manufacturing base and sea freight is a high retail price point in Australia.

Being a UK sourced product the BikeBox is also subject to 5% import duty, and paid for in Pounds Sterling – contributing factors to the high cost.

Both models require a flat, level, hard surface to be installed on. This can be a concrete slab, timber deck, terrace or an improvised flat surface, such as concrete pavers or treated pine timber sleepers. The BikeBox can be secured to the surface using the fasteners supplied through the internal floor.

The Lodge ordered and assembled a Cream standard size BikeBox for the Prime Minister’s bikes, something we are very proud of. Alas we weren’t invited to any official opening ceremony though!
